As all Americans and UK people will know, Giffgaff is a mobile phone company that operates as a mobile virtual network operator and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telefónica UK, trading as O2 UK. Giffgaff Network

Giffgaff at launch provided all basic 2G and 3G mobile phone services on pay-as-you-go basis. And this was their first product prepaid SIM card. After launch, "goodiebags" containing minutes, SMS and data were introduced. Giffgaff announced in March 2014 that starting April 2014, it would offer a line of 4G LTE goodiebags for purchase. Giffgaff launched a recurring unlimited golden goodiebag for £35 per month on October 20, 2020.

Following the success in 2G and 3G mobile phone service, they also announced future 5G access for customers on all Golden Goodiebag products, using their new 5G SIM. On January 7, 2021, Giffgaff launched 5G on its Golden Goodiebag series, using its new 5G SIM. Existing Giffgaff SIMs will continue to work without 5G access, however, there are plans for 5G access for these older SIMs. The O2 network powers Giffgaff's 5G, as it does all of its network offerings. In October 2019, O2 users were given access to their 5G network. Giffgaff has been awarded Network of the Year for five consecutive years, from 2016 to 2021.

Yes, the Giffgaff website is said to be down in recent days. But there are also some other reasons for your data not working and they are as follows,

  • The data in your goodybag may have run out. Instead, you can go without credit. To check your goodybag or credit balance, go to my giffgaff.
  • Check your area's network status and coverage. A mast problem or inadequate coverage may be affecting your data.
  • If you can make and receive calls and texts, your internet APN settings may be the problem. Check out our instructions for the proper APN internet settings.
  • If you're traveling abroad, check sure your data roaming is turned on. If it doesn't work, try running a manual roam.
  • Your phone may be locked or malfunctioning. To see if your SIM card works on another phone, try it on another phone.

Is Giffgaff Network Down?

If your mobile data isn't working but your calls and text messages aren't working, there may be a problem with your Access Point Name (APN) settings. Look for them in your phone's settings. Your APN setting can be found in the Settings app on iPhone and other Apple devices under Mobile data, Mobile data options, then Mobile data networks. They are usually located in the Settings app under Mobile Networks/Networks, Mobile Networks, then APNs on the Android device. Be sure to click the new button regularly.
