Battlefield 2042 is a first-person shooter game developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts. It is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield series, and was released in 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S. Unlike previous games in the series, Battlefield 2042 is fully multiplayer and has no single-player campaign. It also includes support for cross-platform play, a first in the series. Upon release, Battlefield 2042 received mixed reviews from critics and negative reception from players. After its initial trailer and short gameplay reveal, Battlefield 2042 had all the hype behind it. It was released to successful reviews, but they soon turned sour. Unfortunately, the game was plagued by mouse input lag, horizontal mouse not working, error code 2002g, and Direct X issues to name a few. Players eventually started asking for refunds. However, if you've played the game for more than 2 hours, you can't return it to Steam.

If your favorite game is also Battlefield 2042, then the good news for all you players is that Steam is offering all Battlefield 2042 players the option of a refund because the game seems to be "broken." This is largely similar to the failure of Cyberpunk 2077 when it was pulled from the PS Store, and refunds can be claimed at any time.

Players Now Able to Claim Refunds for Battlefield 2042 on Steam

Steam Giving Refunds to Battlefield 2042 Players

Steam is most likely aware of the “broken” nature of the game. Players are incredibly frustrated with it despite all the initial hype. As aforementioned, usually, you would have to meet specific requirements to be eligible for a refund.

However, Steam is making an exception to its rules for Battlefield 2042. Some players have reported that their first refund request got declined.

If you are also facing any issues playing the game, we suggest that you refund it. Steam will most likely accept your refund request and process it.

It is with great sadness that we have to say that Battlefield 2042 did not live up to the expectations of the players. We hope the devs fix all these issues, but the damage is already done. It's a shame too, as the game had a lot of potential as it introduced new features like improved weapon customization, gliders, and an all-new specialist system.
