Soumya Swaminathan joins UK-led pandemic team


London: World Health Organization Indian scientist Soumya Swaminathan has joined the UK-led pandemic team. This team meeting will be held on Tuesday.

The team will be headed by the UK’s Chief Scientific Advisor Sir Patrick Valence and he will present the report of the team at the G-7 Summit to be held in Cornwall in June. This team brings together international organizations and top experts to provide recommendations to develop vaccin more quickly.

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said that the epidemic has shaken the entire nation. Also, this epidemic has brought us together so that in future we can face such situations together.

The G-7 is committed to working closely with its partners as the host of the summit and is ready to strengthen itself in fighting future epidemics.

He said that this group of experts will make every effort to keep people safe from future epidemics.

The PPP’s 20-member team consists of Vaccine Envoy Sir Andreu Viti of the World Health Organization, Aurelia Guyen of the Covax facility Gavi. In addition, scientific advisors from G-7 partners will also be included.
