Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an initiative by the Government of India to provide homes to every citizen. This initiative, launched in the year 2015, was divided into two categories, urban and rural. This initiative aims to complete 2 crore houses by the year 2022, which is a commendable step for the progress of the country.
Essentially, PMAY provides a concessional rate of interest on loans taken by qualified individuals as a scheme for the construction of their homes. While not owning a home is a mandatory criterion for applicants, there are some other criteria that determine whether the subsidy is eligible for the borrower. Based on the total income generated by a family, there are some earning groups who can apply for the scheme. After successful completion of the application process, they need to check the PMAY list of beneficiaries to confirm whether their application has been accepted.
