How to get Shiny Marill in Pokemon Go

Shiny Marill Pokemon go
Niantic

Get ready, Shiny Marill is back in town!

A lot of trainers will be asking if Marill be shiny in Pokemon Go, and the answer is yes!

Throughout the Marill Limited Time Research event, you’ll be able to score shiny Marills during your research encounters. While the spawn rate is still a lot less than the normal variant, you’ll hopefully be able to snag a few as you work through the tasks.

Additionally, Marill’s Spotlight Hour takes place on May 25 from 6PM – 7PM local time. Spotlight Hours see an increased spawn rate of both the normal and shiny variants, so if you miss out during the challenge don’t worry! You’ve still got a chance!

Azumarill Pokemon

So you’ve caught loads of Marills, what next?

How to get Azumarill in Pokemon Go

Thankfully getting an Azumarill in Pokemon Go is a pretty easy task, made even easier by the amount of Marill candy you’ll be hoarding during this event.

Marill evolves into Azumarill by using only 25 candy, so if you snag a decent amount of Marill you’ll have more than enough.

Additionally, if you’re reading this after the event, you can still used Rainy Lure Modules to increase your chance of water-type spawns. For all the info, check our Rainy Lure breakdown.

When does the Fairy-type Challenge start?

While the Challenge is already underway in-game, special rewards will only start to drop between May 11 at 10am and May 17 at 8pm.

Both times are for your local timezone, so no need for pesky time converters here!

How to do the Pokemon Go Fairy-type Challenge

As much as the details for the event appear few and far between, the gist of it is that you’ll have to catch Fairy-type Pokemon.

When the global Pokemon Go community finally catches 500 million of the elusive creatures, this will activate the special rewards drops we mentioned earlier.

Xerneas pokemon Go
Niantic / The Pokemon Company

Leading the Fairy-type charge is Kalos’ resident legendary, Xerneas.

Pokemon Go Fairy-type Challenge rewards

Completing the Fairy-type Pokemon challenge was no easy task. However, as a result of all the hard work, trainers will now be able to enjoy the following rewards:

  • 3× Catch XP bonus, which will be active for the rest of the event.
  • Pancham will appear in raids for the rest of the event.
  • The chance to find a Shiny Galarian Ponyta, which will continue to be available even after the event.

Sylveon confirmed in Pokemon Go

The fan-favourite Eeveelution was the only member of the Fox family that wasn’t included in Pokemon Go. However, that all changed when Niantic confirmed it will be joining the Go Pokedex on May 25 as a part of the Luminous Legends Y event.

Now that Sylveon has finally been added to the game, Pokemon Go trainers can officially get every single Eeveelution. It’s music to the ears of fans who have wanted this to happen for a long time. But that’s not all. They’ll also have a chance to get some Sylveon-themed avatar items as well.

Sylveon’s popularity will make it’s Pokemon Go release almost as exciting as Xerneas itself!

So that’s it for the Pokemon Go Fairy-type Challenge! As further details emerge regarding the Special Rewards, we’ll make sure to update this guide.
