Lost Ark – How to fix daylight savings bug

Lost Ark won six-game awards in various categories at the Korea Game Awards 2019. Developing the game cost about $85.4 million. It is a fantasy massively multiplayer online action role-playing game (MMOARPG). It is co-developed by Tripod Studio and Smilegate’s game development subsidiary Smilegate RPG. It was fully released in the South Korean region on December 4, 2019. The game has released in European and North American regions on February 11, 2022, where it has published by Amazon Games. As we already mentioned, Lost Ark developer Smilegate announced on Twitter that all servers will be down for a maintenance period for a hotfix on March 15, 2022. The hotfix will address several important issues raised over the weekend, including a daylight savings bug affecting in-game events. Time and alarm, just to name a few.

Following the latest Lost Ark March patch update, players have reported a bug connected to daylight savings time, causing chaos in-game. Developer Smilegate had planned daylight savings resets for their servers; however, they revealed that it wasn't launched "smoothly".

For information, let us tell you that the purpose of the reset is to accommodate the players who follow the practice, but instead they have seen the timing and alarm of the in-game event seriously affected. Circulating online are temporary fixes that players can apply until Smilegate provides a permanent solution to the problem.

How to fix the daylight savings bug in Lost Ark?

One of its users on Reddit posted a temporary fix on the Lost Ark subreddit, detailing how to fix the timing of in-game events and affecting daylight saving bugs. Additionally, he encouraged the community to report the issue on official forums to compel Smilegate to provide a permanent solution to the problem.

In this article, let's move on to the topic that Reddit user, MainlandHero, revealed two possible solutions to help players keep track of all in-game events affected by the bug. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the game not recognizing the Windows setting to "automatically adjust for daylight savings", hence why the in-game time lags behind by an hour.

  • Players are to manually input their time on their PC and consider the changes brought about due to daylight savings time.
  • Or players can sync their time automatically with the rest of the world by setting their timezone an hour ahead and not toggling the daylight savings option.

It is up to the player which solution they choose, they must start the Lost Ark all over again after making these changes. Doing so allows the game to update in-game times and alarms to the event schedule to avoid missing out on completing event and endgame activities and collecting rewards.

For information, let us tell you that Smilegate has responded to two separate forum posts regarding the daylight savings bug. Accordingly, the issue has been "escalated" to the development team; however, one of its community managers stated that daylight savings resets weren't implemented correctly.

As we all know this is currently a bug. We were aware and ready for DST, but it didn't roll out smoothly. We are currently working on a fix for this upcoming week," shadow_fox posted in response to the daylight savings bug.
