Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale-hero shooter game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in February 2019, for Nintendo Switch in March 2021, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in March 2022. A mobile version of the game specially designed for touchscreens titled Apex Legends Mobile has also been announced which was released May 17, 2022 on Android and iOS. The game supports cross-platform play, excluding the mentioned mobile platforms. Apex Legends won’t launch on Steam? Every day hundreds of thousands of players battle across the Outlands for glory and bragging rights. With so many active players, some problems are bound to happen occasionally. One of the most common issues is that Apex Legends simply won’t start on Steam. If you’re experiencing this issue, here’s what you can do to fix it.
How to Fix Apex Legends Not Launching Steam 2022
There can be a few reasons why Apex Legends keeps crashing or not launching on Steam. This issue appears from time to time after big updates without any specific reason. The latest such issue has been reported by many players in June 2022. They would try to lunch the game, and the starting loading screen would appear, but it will only stay like that in an infinite loop.
The biggest problem is that players will be stuck on either the loading screen or the EASY anti-cheat screen. Why is this happening and how can you fix this annoying issue? The good news is that developers are working on fixing it, but until they fix it, what can you do? Thankfully, there is a workaround.
When we searched it in the community, it came to know that the community has identified this issue. It has to do with custom reticles. If you have a custom reticle, that’s most likely the cause of this problem. Thus, in order to remove the problem and start the game, you must disable any custom reticles you have. In order to do this, follow these steps:
- Open Steam and find Apex Legends
- Right-lick on the Apex icon in your Steam library
- Select Properties
- Head to the General tab
- In the Launch Options section remove any parameters related to reticle colour
There are some Players who suffering from the Apex Legends not launching bug have reported that the problem is gone after they have removed custom reticles. However, keep in mind that this is only related to the latest problem following the 13.1 update on June 21st.
