Horizon Forbidden West Bugs, Known Issues and Workarounds

Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing video game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. A sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn, it is a single-player open world game set in a post-apocalyptic version of the western United States. The player must travel and complete missions using survival skills, melee attacks, and long-distance weapons in a world overrun by a deadly plague, hostile machine creatures, and other survivors. Horizon Forbidden West has just been released and – despite being well-optimized – it has a fair share of bugs, crashes, and issues that the developers have been made aware of. Thankfully, the devs are hard at work to fix all of these issues. The good part is that there aren’t that many bugs to start with.

As we know there is no set date but developers have noted the problems and they are working hard to fix them. If you want to take a look at the list of all the errors and problems that will be fixed in the coming updates, you can find them below.

Horizon Forbidden West: : Known Issues and Workarounds

Here is a list of all officially known issues. If you're encountering any other bugs or crashes in Horizon Forbidden West, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it here! Hopefully, it will be picked up and fixed by the developers.

Fidelty Mode Bad Visuals

There are also a number of players who have reported that the visuals in Fidelity Mode look strange. According to one user, the screen saturation changes depending on whether the camera is moving or stationary. This may cause the screen to look washed out. The strange thing is that if you switch to display mode this problem does not occur. Surprisingly, this problem persists and happens every time you start the game. The developers have taken note of this and are now working to fix it.

Photo Mode Showing Blurred Textures

There are also some users who reported that Photo Mode was showing blurry textures. This only happens if you change the portrait pose for the alloy in photo mode. After that, you'll see Aloy's hair and body as well as Aloy's staining effect. We are not sure what causes this issue, but it has been noted by the developers.

Shimmering Textures

If you look at this bug, it seems extremely rare, and many users have faced it. However, players have complained that anti-aliasing doesn't work properly. They can see a lot of flicker in vegetation and buildings. This happens on both display and resolution modes.

Issues Redeeming Codes

We have also come to know from some people that their codes were not redeemed when they tried to use them. Here's what you need to note that this issue was faced by players yesterday and has since been fixed. This problem was due to time zone difference. Players can freely use their code as soon as the game is officially revealed. However, if you are still facing this issue, please contact the devs.

Aloy Doesn’t Interact With Machine Remains

Many players have also complained that this is a common problem that was only on PS4 Pro, but PS5 players have also confirmed that they are facing this bug. When you reach the remains of the first machine, the alloy will not interact with it no matter what. This hinders your progress. This problem occurs when your partner is left behind when they arrive at the machine too quickly. To fix this, restart the game or reload your save file and go slowly with your partner.
