A new promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been released and this new promo reveals that the upcoming film will feature multiple Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch looks.
Watching the new promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness reveals that the upcoming film will feature more than one version of Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch.
As the promo begins, Scarlet Witch can be seen meditating, while audio of The Vision from WandaVision can be heard saying, "If not love then what is sorrow… persevere?" Marvel Studios President/Marvel's Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige then stated that part of the "madness of the Multiverse" is that audiences get to "see different realities" as well as different versions of Doctor Strange and Wanda.
Then in the second scene, the character's actor, Marvel Cinematic Universe legend Elizabeth Olsen, says, "I think it was the journey of WandaVision [Wanda] to, for the first time, take her life into her own hands, and it was her experience." It was fun to transition from this to the film. Finally, director Sam Raimi says that the multiverse has "alternate versions of everyone," and it gives characters a chance to meet themselves and "recognize qualities they may be blind to." The promo ends with various shots of Wanda before she faces the camera, giving the impression that she is looking at the viewer.
Raimi has also previously discussed Wanda's forms, saying, "[Multiverse of Madness] is a journey into the multiverse, so you see various iterations of the character of Wanda Maximoff in Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange and even Lizzie Olsen's So, the actors have to play it.. It's a big challenge for them and it's so much fun to direct them to play these changed versions of themselves."
We were also informed by sources that the Multiverse of Madness would settle a Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange debate over which character is more powerful. Co-creator Richie Palmer expressed his views on the subject, saying, "I don't know who is more powerful than Wanda." Raimi also spoke about the issue, commenting that the outcome of such a fight between the two is "a mixed bag of all possibilities", due to altered versions of Wanda and Master of the Mystic Arts.
For information, let us tell you that Olsen brought to the fore WandaVision's relationship with Multiverse of Madness last year. "Without WandaVision, Doctor Strange would have no meaning," she said. "I feel like it totally goes where we find [Wanda]. It feels completely connected to the series." However, prior to Olsen's remarks, Feige claimed that the film would make sense even if audiences had not seen the limited series.
The movie is directed by Sam Raimi, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated to hit the theaters on May 6.
