Elden Ring is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game, directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, was made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided material for the game's setting. Elden Ring Stormveil Castle – Use The Main Gate
The gatekeeper Gostok will greet you immediately as you enter a door to the left of the main gate. You then have a talk with him and once he learns that you are the Tarnished, he’ll show sympathy for you and will offer a piece of useful advice, provided that you believe him. He can either open the Stormveil Castle’s Main Gate or you can take his advice and use the nearby opening. If you choose not to trust him and ask him to open the main gate, he’ll do as you wish, but you’ll not be prepared for what’s inside. When you enter through the main gate, you will immediately be attacked by archers and several ballistas from unreachable positions, thus we strongly recommend you avoid this route until later in the game.

Now if you wish, you can alternatively assume that the gatekeeper Gostok is the benefactor and uses the nearby opening. Elden Ring isn't a game in which you should naively trust anyone, but this time it would be the right move. Gatekeeper Gostok is really trying to help you. If you use the opening, you'll be presented with a lightly guarded path with only a few enemies (some strange bladed Talon Eagles).
It should be noted here that the opening is a narrow passage along the walls of Stormville Castle. Along the way, you can activate two summon pools, a site of grace, and loot several corpses that'll get you a Gold-Pickled Foul Foot and some Rainbow Stones. You'll eventually come to an alternate entrance where you'll be in a better position to deal with the ballista and mini-bosses of the area.
