So, the choice mostly depends on what will be most useful in the beginning. Here is a list of all the gifts, or starting gifts, in the Elden Ring and what they do.
- Crimson Amber Medallion – A medallion inlaid with crimson amber. Increases maximum HP. It raises your health by 36 HP, or about one level of Vitality. You can buy it from the vendor in Weeping Peninsula for 1500.
- Lands Between Rune – The gold of grace shining in the eyes of the people of the Lands Between. Use to gain many runes. Consume it to obtain a whole bunch of runes. Not super-useful overall.
- Golden Seed – A golden seed washed ashore from the Lands Between. Said to reinforce Sacred Flasks. Let’s you upgrade your flask. Golden Seeds are actually very limited, so this is a high priority. Probably the best Elden Ring keepsake to choose at the start.
- Fanged Imp Ashes – The ashes of small, diminutive golems. Ashes are said to hold spirits within. It let’s you summon two fanged imps. Not a bad choice, but there are many summons you can get that are just as good, or even better.
- Cracked Pot – Three strange cracked pots that somehow mend themselves. A container for certain thrown items. Used to craft throwing pots, but is also somehow in key items.
- Stonesword Key – Two stone keys shaped like swords. Breaks the seal on imp statues, but can be used only once. Opens one Imp Gargoyle Lock, aka the areas blocked by white fog. These usually have weapons and other useful items.
- Bewitching Branch – Five sacred branches charged with beguiling power. Said to originate from the demigod Miquella.
- Boiled Prawn – Five pieces of boiled prawn. Boosts physical damage negation. Easy skip.
- Shabiri’s Woe – The crazed likeness of a noble whose eyes have been gouged out. Attracts enemies’ aggression. Useful to draw aggro if playing with friends or have good summons. It does make the game harder.
Best Keepsake – Which Keepsake to Choose in Elden Ring
It seems to me that the best keepsake to choose from in the beginning of the Elden Ring is the Golden Seed. Like we said, it lets you upgrade your Sacred Flask very early in the game, which is invaluable. Plus, golden seeds are not easy to come by; So having a jump right can make all the difference, especially in PvP and fighting a dungeon.
It seems to me that Stonesword Key might be the second best. Reminder, this lets you unlock one of the white fog doors and whatever treasure is outside of it. You might find something really useful there that will help you with the early stages of the Elden Ring. Also, spiky little ash isn't a bad choice, but again, you'll replace them fairly quickly. Also, dealer's choice. Remember, the choice is ultimately yours. Go for the one that suits you best.
