Fall Guys is a platform battle royale game developed by Mediatonic. It was released by Devolver Digital for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 on 4 August 2020. Following their acquisition of Mediatonic, the publishing rights were transferred to Epic Games, who released the game for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on 21 June 2022. On the same date Fall Guys switched to a free-to-play model with full cross-platform play support. Wondering if you can play Fall Guys split screen or in two player local multiplayer? Its simple, fun gameplay model feels like it'd be perfect for some couch co-op option where friends can play in local multiplayer modes, but unfortunately, at time of writing there is no option for split screen in Fall Guys, despite it being hotly requested ever since the game's release. We'll cover the full details of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout and its support for local multiplayer below, as well as when such a feature is likely to be added in the future.
Does Fall Guys have split screen and local multiplayer?
For information, let us tell you that Fall Guys has no local multiplayer, split screen or couch co-op support. But that doesn't mean it won't happen! Mediatonic has addressed the frequently requested topic in their official Fall Guys FAQ (opens in new tab), stating that split screen support will be "put forward as an option", alongside some other highly asked-for features like Fall Guys crossplay and Fall Guys Xbox One and Nintendo Switch - both of which have been added since the initial release years back.
Another thing is, a slightly different answer (opens in new tab) as you'll see on the FAQ, also addresses the topic of private lobbies in offline multiplayer. "Fall Guys is best played with 40-60 players, and we've been focusing on the online multiplayer experience," reads the answer, before explaining that the idea can be suggested as a feature on the official Fall Guys Discord server (opens in new tab).. Some alterations to the minigames would have to be made for it to still be enjoyable with fewer players, but it would no doubt be a welcome addition. Fall Guys esports competitions, anyone?
