For information, let us tell you that Elden Ring is not attacking the Vyke bug, but it is also possible that at one stage during the Hyetta quest line, she asks you to bring her a Fingerprint Grape from Festering Fingerprint Vyke. She also tells you that he’s somewhere around the Church of Inhibition. And that’s true enough; we’ll show you where he’s supposed to appear in the screenshots below. You go there, Vyke spawns, you kill them while somehow staving off the constant Madness (which Vyke is also vulnerable to), they drop the grape and some other stuff. Take the grape to Hyetta and move on to the next step. Sounds simple enough, if difficult to execute. Unfortunately, that’s where the glitch can come in. Fortunately, this quest has zero effect on the main story and the ending you get, so you can skip it without much grief.
One thing you must keep in mind while playing this game is that if the Vyke not invading bug in Elden Ring hits you, the enemy will just refuse to appear. Worse still, there doesn’t seem to be a way to circumvent it. I’ve seen people mention that it might happen if you defeat bosses in the general area before taking the quest, and so going back to an earlier save might help. That wasn’t the case for us. We defeated a bunch of local bosses before grabbing the quest, and Vyke spawned normally. On the other hand, on a different save, he just wouldn’t appear, even though we didn’t beat any of the bosses. Nothing we tried to fix it worked.
