If you’re wondering how to get a mount in Elden Ring, you’ve come to the right place. There are several issues here. First off, you can’t get a horse in Elden Ring from the start; you’ll have to work for it. Plus, you need to find a specific NPC and talk to them, which you can only do at a certain site of grace, or bonfire, if you prefer. It’s all a bit of a process, which is why we’ve written this guide to show you how to get your Elden Ring mount. How to Get Mount in Elden Ring
How to Get Mount in Elden Ring
If you want to get the mount in the Elden Ring, you'll need to play through the game until you reach Grace's Stormgate site. It is at the entrance to Stormgate Castle, to the right of Portcullis. We'll show you where it is in the screenshot below. Basically, it is north-east of Limegrave. Every site of grace, aka bonfire, that you find along the way will point you to it on the map. You'll find it north of the church of Aleh and through the forest to the gatefront ruins.
If we talk about Stormgate, just sit and relax at the grace spot in front of it, and you'll meet an NPC named Melina. We go into more detail about this in our Melina's Choice guide. Accept his offer, and then you'll finally be able to rise to the top. More importantly, she will give you the Spectral Steed Whistle. You use it like any other item, by cycling through the items with the down arrow on the D-pad and then pressing down. To get your mount in the Elden Ring, just use the whistle, and your faithful spectral horse named Torrent will appear.
For information, let us tell you that torrent is faster than you, it can gallop indefinitely until you are out of battle, and do double-jump. Plus, you can engage in cavalry combat, which can be extremely useful, especially with spears. You can attack with LT/LB or L1/L2 on the left and RT/RB or R1/R2 on the right. All said, torrents take damage, and can die. Use magic or roa raisins to cure it. If it dies, you must revive it with a Flask of Crimson Tears charge or return to Grace, or the site of the bonfire.
