Installing an Xbox Emulator for Android

If you also want to install an Xbox emulator, there are a few things you should know. The most important thing is that they are not available on Google Play Store at all. Again, this is mainly due to the red tape that Microsoft has on the original Xbox. You can find emulators for various consoles on the Google Play Store, not just the original Xbox.

The first thing you have to do for this is that, In order for you to get an Xbox emulator on your Android smartphone, you'll need to download an APK from the Internet - it's an Android app, but not one that was approved for the Google Play Store, so proceed at your own risk.

Even to download APK from an unauthorized source, we need to change some settings in your smartphone. If you're running Android 4.0 or higher, go to the Settings app. Scroll down to the Security tab, and then make sure "Unknown sources" is checked. This will allow you to download and install any APK from the Internet on your smartphone.

You should be careful about which APKs you are downloading from the internet. Some APKs may be prone to malware and potentially infect your smartphone; So you need to pay attention to this. However for the most part, you are safe from things like this. This is because Android employs a "sandbox" type of mechanism to keep viruses contained - this prevents them from reaching other parts of your phone and destroying your operating system of Android.

Downloading the APK Xbox Emulator for Android

So now you are ready to download the APK file. You can download the original Xbox emulator right here (Mega File Sharing) from this link. Install apk for android xbox emulator to play games on your android phone.

Sometimes it happens that you may need a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to download Xbox Emulator APK. There are many such applications on Google Play Store by which it is easily solved.. If you download and install FlyVPN (free), you can easily access the MEGA site to initiate the download of the APK. However, you will need to connect to FlyVPN once the app is installed.

Let us now assume that you have downloaded this APK in your phone, now you can click on the notification or find the file in your Files app. Once you find it, just tap on Complete Download, and Original Xbox Emulator Android will start installing. Once the installation is finished, you should be ready to play the original Xbox gaming console with an emulator on your smartphone.

Concerning Games and Controls

You should keep in mind that the original Xbox console is from a completely different generation. This was a time when people weren't even thinking about the touch controls that we now come into contact with everyday. With that in mind, many of the games you play on this emulator may feel a bit strange or may not even work properly. Things can get a little easier if you pick up a Bluetooth (or wired) Xbox controller for an Android phone (there are adapters that make this possible) - and make sure it's an original Xbox controller, too.

There is one more thing that you have to keep in mind and that is that you may have to work hard to find games for your Xbox emulator. You can find ROMs for Xbox emulators here —just make sure they're compatible with Android first (each game will tell you what platform you can use it on). Let's hope you've got the Xbox game you want.

The CXBX Project

If we talk about Microsoft, it has a very tight leash on Xbox emulation, with at least one project in the works to get Xbox emulator up and running. That project is called CXBX Reloaded, and it's a Windows 10-based program where Xbox emulation should work. At a minimum, you will need at least 64-bit based Windows 7 for this to work. Windows 7 and newer versions of Windows that are 32-bit will not work with CXBX Reloaded.

There are a couple of other important requirements:

  • You need a GPU that at least supports Direct3D 9 (HLE) and OpenGL 3.3 (LLE).
  • Visual C++ 2015 and 2017 redistributables are required for CxBx to run as well. Most people should already have these on a Windows machine,  but sometimes that isn’t the case. So, you can get them here for free. Make sure to install the 32-bit version of the program even if you are on a 64-bit machine, as the 64-bit build does not include both.

There’s one other important thing to note — CxBx is not ready for general release. It’s still in the development stages, but if you’re dying for a proper Xbox emulator, you can try the development version. Keep in mind that it’s a little on the buggy side, with some kinks still to be worked out. Check it out here.

Keep in mind that this is just an emulator, and you will still need ROMs of your favorite original Xbox games to try!

Verdict

We have given you all the steps above, using which you can be able to successfully download and install Xbox emulator for Android on your phone. Once again, there are very few original Xbox emulators on the market due to all the red tape, but this should work fine for you.

For information, let us tell you that you can also try CxBx Reloaded Emulator, which is an Xbox emulator for Windows. It's not Android, but you can still get a way around Microsoft's red tape on Xbox emulation!
