WWE NXT – Million Dollar Title Returns to WWE Ladder Match for the Belt in "Takeover: In Your House" In the "Takeover: In Your House" go-home episode, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase Sr. brings back the million dollar title once again. They announced that there would be a ladder match for the title between Cameron Grimes and LA Knight at Takeover and that the title would hang above the ring. Whoever wins the title will continue Ted's Million Dollar Legacy.
Divius introduced the Million Dollar Title in 1989, and Ted defended it several times before it was officially accepted by WWE and dropped Virgil at SummerSlam 1991. WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin once held the title as "The Ringmaster" since December 1995.
When DiBiase left the company in May 1996, this title was also dropped. WWE brought back the belt for Ted DiBiase Jr. in April 2010, but the storyline was not liked by viewers, and the title was dropped once again in November 2010.
Billed as $1 million, DiBiase has said in an interview with Bruce Prichard that the title actually cost between $40,000 and $50,000. It was created by Betteridge Jewelers in Greenwich, CT and is gold-plated with cubic zirconia.
There are only three genuine diamonds on the back. The WWE Shop still sells Million Dollar Titles for $419.99 and Mini Titles for $69.99. The belt was featured in an episode of WWE Warehouse in 2014.
“Takeover: In Your House 2021” will take place this Sunday, June 13 from the Capital Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Where this time the Million Dollar Belt will also be at stake.
