The COVID-19 pandemic has been a big problem for the whole world for more than 1 year and it has had a direct impact on WWE as well. The damage to the world’s biggest pro wrestling promotion is beginning to be visible.
The result of this loss is that in the last one year, WWE has released a large number of wrestlers and staff members. Big superstars like Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe and Aleister Black have been released. During this crisis, only a few changes can bring some benefit to WWE.
There are shows of Raw and SmackDown every week in WWE and there is a PPV every month. The storylines and characters of the Superstars have a profound impact on the product of WWE or any other Pro Wrestling company. So in this article, we will tell you about 4 changes that WWE desperately needs right now.
Superstars should get creative freedom in WWE
It is well known that everything that happens in WWE must pass through Vince McMahon. Most of the things in the company happen according to Vince and the superstars have to perform according to him in the ring. At the same time, a few weeks ago, former WWE Superstar Zack Ryder compared the atmosphere of AEW and WWE and the creative freedom that superstars get.
Ryder appeared in a few AEW shows after his release from WWE. After that in an interview, he said, “In AEW you don’t even know who is running the show. WWE is a huge promotion, but I would favor AEW when it comes to creative freedom.”
As a result of this open environment, many former WWE wrestlers have said that they like the atmosphere of AEW more. Vince should give creative freedom to the wrestlers so that they can perform without pressure and this will also improve the company’s product.
Don’t focus too much on only 1-2 big superstars
Fans who follow Raw and SmackDown regularly know what is getting the most attention from both the brands these days. As for SmackDown, Roman Reigns is so dominant that no other superstar has become Universal Champion after Payback last year. Even this week the entire focus of SmackDown was on Roman Reigns and The Usos.
At the same time, every attempt is made to make Raw interesting with segments of WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Alexa Bliss. Although the RKBro team is also making headlines these days, it is not possible to make a 3-hour show interesting on the basis of matches and segments of only 3-4 superstars. That’s why WWE needs to focus on other big superstars as well.
Improve the quality of storylines
As we mentioned earlier, the storylines and the character of the superstars have a huge impact on the product of any pro wrestling promotion. These days the level of storylines in WWE has also gone down a lot. For example, AJ Styles and The Omos are not getting any advantage despite being the Raw Tag Team Champions.
It’s been a month since Shinsuke Nakamura and King Corbin fought for the Crown, but the storyline is still where it started. Drew McIntyre has been a part of the WWE Championship storyline over the past several months, repeatedly challenging him for the championship, showing that WWE doesn’t have a major challenger for Lashley.
Big NXT Superstars should be booked well by bringing them to the main roster
AEW debuted in the year 2019 and a few months later it became clear that its focus is currently on beating WWE’s third show, NXT. That’s why Finn Balor, Ember Moon, and for a while, Charlotte was also sent to NXT. Despite this, AEW’s weekly shows have on most occasions garnered better ratings than NXT.
Obviously, the decision to send the main roster superstars back to NXT has not proved to be a good one. It would be better if the Superstars sent back to NXT are returned to the main roster and if needed, other big NXT Superstars also debut on Raw or SmackDown, where their good booking can prove to be beneficial for the company.
